Elite Martial Arts of Tennessee
Martial Arts For The 21st Century

CurriculumOur classes have been created for specific age groups. Other than our special family classes, children are separate from adults. This allows everyone to maximize their potential and to have fun along the way!

Little Dragons (ages 5-7)
The Little Dragons program is designed specifically for young children. This class concentrates on basic karate skills, physical fitness, memory, spatial awareness, coordination, gross motor skills, balance, and learning left from right. The children also learn about stranger dangers and self defense.  The students acquire these skills and knowledge through fast moving drills and learning games. The Little Dragons also work on various Kenpo techniques by learning Kenpo katas (a pattern of movements). Most importantly, the children learn about what it means to "act like a Black Belt." Character lessons are taught throughout the class and interesting stories drive the message home at the end of each class. It is a fun and high-energy class. Your Little Dragon will love it!
Karate Kids (ages 8-15)Karate Kids is an exciting class where students work on their physical fitness, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and memory through fast-paced drills and exercises. The Karate Kids learn Kenpo katas (patterns of movement) which help them master basic karate skills. These students also learn valuable lessons on stranger awareness/avoidance, dealing with bullying, and self defense. The most important goal of the Karate Kids class is to teach the children the "Black Belt" way of life. This involves showing respect, humility, perserverance, self-control, integrity, and discipline in all areas of life. These characteristics are explained and demonstrated throughout the lessons, and an interesting story at the end of class reiterates that message. The Karate Kids class inspires children to be their very best!
Black Belt ClubThe Black Belt Club curriculum challenges students at an intermediate and advanced level. This class concentrates on truly living like a "Black Belt," perfecting Kenpo techniques, learning how to spar effectively, and integrating gymnastics with their martial arts training. These students also train with weapons such as the Bo staff, Chinese Broadsword, Escrima sticks, Kamas, and the art of Nunchaku. Black Belt Club students are highly motivated through fun, intense drills which promote physical fitness, martial arts excellence, and confidence.

Progressive Tae Kwon Do (adults and teens)At the Kingston Springs location, we teach Progressive Tae Kwon Do. This is partially a Korean style of martial arts and is one of the most popular styles practiced in the United States combined with heavy self-defense from other martial arts styles. Our classes stress exercise, stretching, kicking, and punching.  We also put a heavy emphasis on self defense and street techniques--we do not train for tournaments. Most of our self defense techniques come from our EM3 program(see above). These were designed to be more practical in an attack response. Stress drills as well as multiple attacks are practiced. All classes include sparring. No pressure is placed on lower belts to spar until they feel ready. Intermediate levels spar with light contact. Senior belts spar more aggressively using stand up, ground and muay thai techniques, but with control. Each class is composed of stretching, kicking and punching drills, katas, self defense, and sparring.
